Artifort News Milaan Editie

Bras_Artifort.jpg

Nieuw: Bras / Khodi Feiz

Nest_Pierre_Paulin.jpg

Reintroductie: Nest / Pierre Paulin

Nieuw: Halo / Richard Hutten

Materialise Units News

Module.MGX Tables Showcased at “Units – Design im Netz der Teile” in Münster, Germany

Module.MGX Tables Showcased at “Units – Design im Netz der Teile” in Münster, GermanyWhat are the individual parts that make up a pattern and how do they fit together? From March 15th to May 31st you can see a visual representation of this at the “Units – Design im Netz der Teile” exhibition at Sparda-Bank in Münster, Germany. A few of the Module tables, a .MGX piece by WertelOberfell in collaboration with Matthias Bär, will be on display at this exhibition, sitting among other high-profile designer pieces. Based off the Fractal.MGX coffee table, the design is a study of geometry and nature, starting at the base with strong branches that eventually split becoming delicate twigs that form a dense tabletop. This table truly shows what is possible with 3D Printing, as the table would not be realized in this form without this technology.

Philips Belgium Collaborates with .MGX Designers

.MGX is pleased to hear that Philips Belgium has debuted their 3D printed consumer lighting products at Light+Building, the world’s leading fair for lighting and architecture. For these products, Philips collaborated with WertelOberfell and Strand + Hvass, designers who have also created lamps with .MGX.

To be added to Phillip’s Hue Collection, both designers used nature as inspiration for their lamps: WertelOberfell based their design on geometry seen in crustaceans’ eyes, whereas Strand + Hvass created a lamp by imitating the light coming through bare branches. Due to the complexity of both designs, they are only possible thanks to 3D Printing.

Through WertelOberfell’s experimentation with materials, production processes and functionality, they have worked with Materalise to print two lamps: the insect eye-inspired Dragonfly.MGX, which is composed from a curved honeycomb structure, and the Diatom.MGX, which uses mathematical shapes to compose an object of life and beauty.

Christina Strand and Niels Hvass are two Danish designers who specialize in simple, functional products with new shapes and materials. By collaborating with Materialise for the Chaos.MGX lamp, they have overlapped 1,000 sticks to form a dynamic shadow and light display.

Materialise .mgx

At .MGX we understand that life isn't always easy. In our daily lives we tend to get caught up in getting things done and being efficient, rather than just "being".

That's why we've challenged some of the top design minds in the world to use some very special 3D technologies to create some very special products. Lamps and furniture that can brighten a room, or furnish a house, but that also soothe the soul and engage both the imagination and the senses. Products that create a magical atmosphere for connecting with yourself or connecting with friends.

Manufactured using a variety of 3D printing methods, the .MGX by Materialise collection combines the best of modern and traditional craftsmanship. Our 3D technologies allow for the production and customization of shapes that would otherwise be impossible to realise. And whether formed out of epoxy or polyamide, each piece is individually drawn and created by laser beam, and carefully finished by hand.
